          ZEDA is established in 1999 and registered under the Registration of Society Act No.SR/MZ-11 of 1999. Dt. 01. 03. 1999. The agency started functioning with only 8 posts, 7 of which belong to engineering cadre. The other post being Steno grade - II. No ministerial and account cadre post have been created. Most of the Officers and staff are deployed from Power & Electricity Department, Government of Mizoram on deputation basis and attachment.With the merger of IREP activities with the State Nodal Agency of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy activities, it is now exactly convenient to have totally devoted autonomous identity. The necessary fund for functioning of this Agency is available from grants from MNRE and matching fund from the state budget.
